To access the Media Center subscription databases:

Go to the BRRHS home page: http://www.brrsd.net/curric/HS/library/index.html
On Left sidebar - Select HS Library
You will be directed to the BRRHS Library Webpage, where you can view a list of all the Subscription Databases. Click on the link to the database that you want to search and enter the User ID and Password in the login page.

Click on the icon on your PC desktop for Spectrum Patron's Catalog. There is a tutorial available when you click this link.

Historical New York Times: There are several ways to search this database for information on specific time periods:
Click on Timeline or Topics tabs and then click on the link describing your selected time frame.You will be provided with a Subtopic List, which when clicked will deliver a list of articles on this broad topic.

If your topic of interest is not listed, you may click on the Search tab, use the drop-down list to specify the decade, and enter a keyword into the search box. Make sure that you have clicked the boxes that designate the type of article you are searching for.

To obtain articles published during any time period, use the Search Tab, type your keyword into the seach box, and do not specify a decade in the drop-down box. Your results will be displayed in categories by date; click on the date icon to view articles.

American National Biographies: Provides information on deceased Americans only. You can type a person's name in the Quick Search box, or browse by alphabetical listing of a name (use the "Browse" tab at the top of the page). You can also use the Advanced Search option (click on the "Search" tab at the top of the page) to search by additional criteria and characteristics (e.g., ethnicity, occupation, birth date).
Citation information is included at the end of the article, but you need to insure that it is in the proper MLA format.

Biography Resource Center:Provides information on living and deceased persons of both American and International heritage.
You can search using the quick "Search by Name" box, but make sure that you click the appropriate button below to define the approach of the search (i.e., Name Contains, or Start of Last Name). You can also Browse categories or use the Advanced Search to combine terms (i.e., use Boolean Operators).

MLB.COM The Official Site of Major League Baseball. By seaching through the "Players" link at the top of the page can find Info, such as statistics, on past players.

Hall of Fame This is the Site for the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY. You can get a list of and info on all the Hall of Famers here, including the year they were inducted and how many votes they received. The site also includes Negro League players.

The Sporting News Although covering all sports, The Sporting News originally covered only baseball, and as a result has an extensive archive on famous and not so famous ball players.

Sports Illustrated The leading sports magazine in the country with info covering contemporary baseball and the past.
